This criminal operation was intended to be carried out a few meters from La Esperanza military base.
Through territorial control operations, framed in the Bicentenary Plan “Heroes de La Libertad”, troops of the Vulcano Task Force, find in the last days, in rural areas of the municipalities El Carmen and El Tarra, two Improvised Explosive Devices and an antipersonnel mine belonging to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln.
In a first operation carried out in the hamlet Motilandia, of the municipality of El Tarra, military of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No.21, found two improvised explosive devices hidden in the undergrowth. These devices had been conditioned with a cable activation system, which according to the investigations, would be triggered against members of the National Army in this area.
In simultaneous operation, in the village of Dosquebradas, in the municipality of El Carmen, troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.10, through an exhaustive search of the area, achieved the discovery of an antipersonnel mine.
Once these situations are known Explosive Groups and Demolitions (EXDE) DELTA, activated the security protocols to conduct in controlled conditions the deactivation and destruction of explosive charges, thus preventing collateral damage.
The Vulcano Task Force this year has managed to neutralize 78 Explosive Devices that would be activated against the civilian population and the troops. In the same way they have destroyed 25 launching pads and 310 kilograms of explosive material.
