This illicit means of warfare was near a school in the rural area of La Palestina, in Arauquita, Arauca.
In stability operations, troops of the Eighteenth Brigade of the National Army destroy an improvised explosive device that was on the side of a tertiary road in the Palestina village, of the municipality of Arauquita, Arauca.
This device had an activation system by nonelectric initiation method, and would be ready to be activated against civilians, this being a very busy route, since minors pass through this sector daily to get to their place of study.
In a coordinated and effective manner, complying with all the security protocols established by the soldiers of the explosives and demolitions group of the National Army, this device was destroyed in controlled conditions.
The National Army will make the corresponding denunciations, and set a precedent for the use of illicit means and methods of warfare used by the members of the GAO on tertiary roads and near rural schools of the department; these individuals act with the sole objective of causing serious harm to civilians and our soldiers, thus attacking human rights and violating the provisions established in international humanitarian law.
