Troops of the Thirtieth Brigade of the National Army in coordination with the National Police and interagency with the Attorney General of the Nation, framed in the Bicentenario Plan, Heroes of Freedom, conducted military operations that left the death of a member of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, 'Los Pelusos', the capture of three individuals and the rescue of a citizen that was kidnaped by this Group, the operation was carried out in the rural area of the municipality of Sardinata.
Intelligence work and the use of all the capabilities of the military Forces, led to the planning and subsequent entry by land of the troops of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.5 'General Hermogenes Maza', which reached the hamlet known as El Cerro, where they had a firefight against a financial group that commits crimes in this area.
As a result of the armed confrontation it was reported the capture of alias 'Grillo', leader of the group, along with two other members, the neutralization of a third individual and the discovery of war material.
The rescued citizen and one of the captured, were wounded and immediately they received first aid of the combat nurse. They were later taken to a health center in Cúcuta, in an aircraft of the National Army.
In the operation troops found two submachineguns, three pistols, 125 cartridges, six magazines, 01 communication radio, mobile phones and documents of interest to the military and police authorities.
The National Army and the National Police will continue to carry out operations in the framework of the military and police campaign 'Esparta' that will dismantle the different organized armed groups in the department of Norte de Santander, guaranteeing through the deployment of their men the security of the civil population.
