In the municipalities of Riosucio and El Carmen del Darién, in the department of Chocó, National Army troops found and dismantled 10 illegal laboratories that produced more than 1,000 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride per month.
After a couple of months of military intelligence information, by the Jungle Battalion No.54 of Joint Task Force Titan, it could be established that the drug would apparently be distributed from this place to the countries of Central America and the United States, with alleged illegal economic benefits of more than 10,000 million pesos per month through the laboratories destroyed in the villages of Pedeguita, El Abierto and Caño Montería, of the municipalities of Riosucio and el Carmen del Darién, in the department of Chocó.
According to the investigations, the illegal laboratories belonged to the Carlos Vásquez substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in the municipalities of Riosucio and El Carmen del Darién, among other municipalities in the north of the department of Chocó.
During the military operation, 2 405 kilograms of coca base in solution, 1 250 gallons of liquid precursors and 932 kilograms of solid precursors used for the production of the drug were found by troops.
