The National Army, through the Sixth Division and the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.6, together with artists and citizens, work shoulder to shoulder for the campaign Amazonía Sin Llamas (Amazon with no flames), which seeks to preserve this lung of the world.
The campaign Amazonía Sin Llamas is promoted by the program Visión Amazonía, an initiative of the National Government, which seeks to stop deforestation in the Amazonas. “A collaborative work conducted by government institutions, international cooperation programs, non-governmental organizations, environmentalists and citizens", said José Yunis, coordinator of Visión Amazonía.
Jhon Peña Cerquera, Secretary of Environment and Rural Development of Florencia, and the soldiers of the National Army joined the initiative of the Commander of the Sixth Division, Brigadier General, Jorge Herrera Diaz, who noted: “we join the campaign because our forests are a source of water, life and biodiversity. I invite all the authorities of the Amazonas to join efforts to protect and take care of our natural resources. In the National Army we are custodians of the environment”.
It should be noted that, within the framework of Operation Artemisa -whose objective is to preserve the environment- environmental activities have been carried out in Caquetá, Putumayo and Amazonas by the program Fe en Colombia of the National Army, the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.6 and soldiers of the Sixth Division to reforest. This year 200 native trees have been planted in Amazonas and 50 native tress in Florencia, Caquetá.
