The soldiers and the Family Mission and Vision of Cali Foundation helped a family in Cali who did not have a proper house to live in. Previously, they lived under cans and debris that improvised a roof.
In the Altos de Cristales neighborhood to the west of Cali, beyond the stunning buildings and houses that adorn this sector of the city, live a mother head of household with her two daughters and an elderly woman in precarious conditions. The house simulated a roof of cans and debris that when a storm hit, woke up the anxiety of this family.
For this reason, together with the Family Mission and Vision foundation, a completely new house was built for the family, with a roof, bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and dining room on the same place where they had previously spent their nights.
“We fell very happy, because I prayed to God that one day a decent little house would arrive because we lived there in that little ranch where we got flooded tremendously. We suffered a lot there,” said Graciela Hernández Vargas, a 60-year-old woman who lives with her daughters and granddaughters.
Today, the family enjoys their home and they thank the National Army, the Mission and Vision Familia Foundation and the kind-hearted people who have helped them have their house with beds, kitchen, TV, refrigerator and other household implements.
“We met them because they are a family of recyclers and one day we came and saw that their house had collapsed, they had no water, gas, a bathroom and when it rained flooding took place, so we asked for the support of the National Army and the people of Cali to start building the house and presented it furnished,” explained José Daniel Mondragón foundation volunteer.
After contacting the soldiers of the Brigade of Comprehensive Action No.2 of the National Army, they launched the plan for the construction of the house, and although they have not yet finished furnishing it, the Hernández family can now live with the peace of mind that their roof is not going to collapse on them.
“We have provided a fridge, TV set, food, and more things that the Caleños have donated for this low-income family. We are working for a bridge to provide the transit to get to the family house, since the one which it is today, is about to collapse. We are happy to help these women,” said First Sergeant Ember Vasquez of the comprehensive Action Brigade No.2.
