The First Division continues to work for the wellbeing of the department of La Guajira.
In the framework of unified operation, the institutional harmonization of the State and the protection of the territory, the First Division of the National Army, with its organic units deployed throughout the department of La Guajira, have constantly worked to prevent the transit of people heading from Venezuela to Colombia. This, taking into account the orders issued by the President of the Republic in Decree 457, facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the same way, activities have been carried out to support civilians, in joint, coordinated, inter-agency and inter-institutional work with the Government of La Guajira, the National Police, Civil Defense and private companies. In this way, collaboration has been provided through more than 500 food baskets, benefiting approximately 1,500 people.
In the same way, 20,000 gallons of water have been distributed, which benefits more than 5,000 people in vulnerable situations, and counteracts the impacts produced by compulsory preventive isolation.
In the same way, troops of the Task Force of Combined Medium Military Forces have carried out loudspeaker activities in the municipality of Urib铆a, informing civilians of the care and precautions that must be taken to prevent a massive spread of the coronavirus.
The above, supported by its troops, providing security throughout the border and its nearby municipalities. In this activity more than 400 men have been deployed, who guard and ensure the safety of Colombians in this part of the country.
The First Division demonstrates once again that with its troops it continues to operate in the department, working in a coordinated way with the municipal administrations, all the State institutions and with private companies. In this way, the tranquility of the entire department of La Guajira is guaranteed.
