The finding was possible in territorial control operations thanks to the work in a control checkpoint in the sector known as La Balastrera, in the department of Cauca.
The National Army achieved a heavy blow against the illicit finances of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the northern region of the department of Cauca, after the discovery of a truck that transported more than two tons of marijuana.
In territorial control operations, framed in the “Héroes de la Libertad” Bicentenary Campaign Plan, troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.13 carried out a checkpoint in the sector known as La Balastrera, in the municipality of Caloto, in the department of Cauca , where the driver noticed the presence of the military unit in the area, stopped at the side of the road and started the flight, leaving the vehicle behind.
With all the security protocols, the military proceeded to inspect the contents of the vehicle, finding a large number of boxes with a substance that, due to its texture and color characteristics, resembled marijuana. Once the respective preliminary identification tests were carried out, in coordination with the National Police, it was possible to confirm that it was 2,035 kilograms of marijuana.
This substance apparently belonged to the sixth substructure of the organized armed group (GAO-r), and would have as destination the city of Cali to be distributed to the center of the country. With this result, the illicit finances of this group are directly attacked and the substance will not reach innocent people.
The Operations Command Apolo ratifies its commitment to guarantee the safety of all the inhabitants of northern Cauca, neutralizing the crime factors that damage this part of the Colombian Southwest.
