Within the framework of military operations, soldiers of Colombian National Army have discovered and dismantled an illegal cache containing improvised explosive devices and military accessory material in the vicinity of the village Las Mercedes, municipality of Sardinata, Norte de Santander. Military equipment was in the same way found at the site.
Thanks to intelligence information, soldiers of the Field Artillery Battalion No.30 they arrived at the village La Mesa, where the illegal hiding place would be. When arriving at the point, the existence of several black bags and sacks could be evidenced.
Verifying the material, it was possible to confirm the existence of 30 60 mm grenades, 8 81 mm grenades, both improvised, and 21 means of launching; in the same way, 8 camouflaged, 2 black sweatshirts, 2 shirts, a pair of boots and 3 scarves alluding to the GAO ELN.
Maintaining the security of the area and preserving the protocols for the destruction of explosive devices, the military, supported by the judicial authority, proceeded to destroy the illegal cache in controlled conditions.
In this way, our soldiers of the Thirtieth Brigade continue to conduct tasks that led preserving civilians and troops lives.
