With these military operations, the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, stops receiving more than 100 million pesos per month from the illicit activity.
As part of the Ayacucho campaign plan and through unified ground military operations, the National Army, in coordination with the National Police, reported the dismantling of two laboratories for drug production and the arrest of an alleged ringleader of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the Urabá subregion in the departments of Antioquia and Chocó.
In the first military operation, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in coordination with the National Police, through a search process in the villages of Caucheras and Santa Teresa, of the municipalities of Mutatá and Dabeiba, in the department of Antioquia, reported the arrest of alias Andrés, alleged ringleader of the focused criminal component, who would be the coordinator of hitmen of the Carlos Vásquez substructure of this illegal group.
During the operation, two pistols, a 38 mm caliber revolver, about 100 cartridges of different calibers, explosives material, military accessories, communications and other elements of interest to military intelligence were in the same way found.
In the second operation, this time in the village El Remigio, in the municipality of Chigorodó, in the same department, it was possible to find a laboratory used for the production of coca base paste. In the same way, in the municipality of Unguía, in the department of Chocó, it was possible to find and destroy another laboratory for the production of drugs.
An intelligence work led the members of the Military Forces to find these two rudimentary structures, in which they found about 95 gallons of liquid supplies and more than 70 kilograms of solid supplies, as well as machinery and equipment used for the preparation of the substance, which would belong to the Carlos Vásquez Substructure of the, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
With this result, it was possible to deal a decisive loss to the main source of financing for the purchase of weapons and the carrying out of terrorist operations of this armed structure in more than 100 million pesos and, in turn, the production of approximately 300 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride per month is prevented.
The material found and the arrested person were put into custody of the authorities to continue the corresponding judicial procedures.
