In the place up to 800 kilos of substances used for the production of cocaine base paste, valued at least 700 million pesos, could be produced.
In the framework of the Bicentenary Plan troops of the Infantry Battalion No.38 'Miguel Antonio Caro', found a laboratory for the production of potassium permanganate, a precursor for cocaine base paste, in rural area of the village of Java in the municipality of Albán in the department of Cundinamarca.
The illegal infrastructure apparently belonged to the Organized Criminal Group 'Caparrapos', financial arm of the GAO “Clan del Golfo” and consisted of a rustic cabin that contained 1,500 kilos of potassium permanganate, and 800 gallons of the same substance (liquid), as well as 15 gas cylinders of 100 pounds, two rudimentary stoves, four rudimentary machines known as “worms”, among other elements used for the production of narcotics.
