In the operation that took place in two municipalities of the department, it was possible to arrest the alleged second ringleader of the drug trafficking substructure of the Organized Gang, GDO, Los Pachencas, damaging the structure, finances and criminal operations of this gang.
In the course of joint territorial control operations with the Colombian Navy, troops of the National Army carried out, in the department of La Guajira, the arrest of eight alleged members of the Organized Gang, GDO, Los Pachencas, and the finding of 350 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride belonging to this gang.
The first operation was conducted in the municipality of Bahía Portete, where strict adherence to the respect for human rights, and in compliance with the provisions of international humanitarian law, the soldiers repelled the attack of these eight individuals, who later were arrested. In the same way, it was possible to establish the alleged arrest of the second ringleader of the drug trafficking substructure of the GDO Los Pachencas.
In addition, four rifles, three pistols, abundant ammunition, communication equipment and war material that would be used for their crimes in this region of the country, were found.
At the same time, at the Kayushiwan Rancheria, in the municipality of Uribia, in the north of Cerro de la Teta, military units found 350 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in a house. The value of this drug is estimated at more than 4,000 million pesos.
