Troops of the Twenty-Ninth Brigade of the Third Division of the National Army, in operations under the Bicentennial Plan “Héroes de la Libertad”, engaged heavy firefights in the rural area of El Bordo - Patía, in the Department of Cauca, with a structure of the residual Organized Armed Group, achieving the capture of three individuals.
This important result occurs when units of the High Mountain Battalion No. 4 “General Benjamin Herrera Cortés”, at dawn today, engaged an armed combat with the GAO-r Estiven González substructure of this group, in the village Las Tallas, in this municipality of the south of the department of Cauca, where besides the three captures, the troops achieved the finding of an M-16 rifle, 130 cartridges of different calibers and a hand grenade.
The work carried out by military intelligence established that this structure is responsible for the control of the precursors for the production of alkaloids, in the same way, it would be behind the extortion of money against the producers of coca and cocaine base paste in this sector of the Department.
The individuals and the material of war were put into custody of the authority to continue with the judicial process.
With this result, the GAO-r is hit hard and its main source of illicit financing, based on drug trafficking is attacked, thus weakening its criminal activity in this area of the country, ratifying the commitment of the National Army to the security of the Southwestern Colombia.
