In the last three months, the Fourteenth Brigade has managed to capture three ringleaders of that GAO, limiting its operations in the northeast of Antioquia.
Troops of the Seventh Division of the National Army, in the framework of the Plan Diamante II and in coordinated operations with the National Police, captured four alleged members of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
Thanks to the information provided and verified by Military Intelligence it was possible to establish that these individuals would hold a meeting. In the place and time of the possible meeting of members of this organized armed group this important result was possible.
Those captured were identified as alias 'Uriel' or 'Fredy', who was the third in command of the substructure “Jorge Iván Arboleda Garcés” of the GAO Clan del Golfo; alias 'Coste', who was the third in command of the “Carretera del Chocó” substructure; In the same way, two other members of this criminal structure were captured.
Alias 'Uriel' was in charge of the finances of the substructure, extorted people from different economic sectors in the region, threatening and intimidating them with firearms. The non-payment of the extortions was reason to execute selective assassinations; in the same way, he was in charge of managing the micro-trafficking places in this sector.
During this military operation, a short range weapon, magazines, cartridges, a communications equipment, intelligence documents, USB memories and cash were seized.
