Those arrested would be responsible for murdering seven soldiers on April 19 in Frontino, and two more members of the Military Forces in the municipality of Ca帽asgordas, on May 9 of this year.
Thanks to military intelligence information, troops of the National Army intercepted and arrested alias El Oj贸n, alleged ringleader of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the municipality of Frontino, Antioquia. Along with him, alias Farid, second in command in this same locality of western Antioquia, was in the same way arrested.
The operation, jointly and coordinated with the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, took place in the Chontaduro village of this municipality. Based on military intelligence, members of the Military Forces strategically deployed to wait for the both ringleaders by the sector known as Musinga. There they were surprised and arrested.
Alias El Oj贸n would have a criminal record of nine years, during which time he acquired extensive knowledge in the financial, armed and political activities of the gang. This guy would be responsible for multiple terrorist attacks against the Military Forces. One of them occurred on April 19 in the municipality of Frontino, where seven soldiers were vilely killed and seven more were injured. Another incident occurred on May 9 in the municipality of Ca帽asgordas, when members of the Military Forces were attacked in the transit of a humanitarian caravan of vehicles, taking the lives of two of them.
Alias Farid was in the same way allegedly involved in the May 9 ambush. This individual would be a member of the GAO Clan del Golfo, since 2017, serving as chief of hitmen, financial ringleader and first in command in the municipality of Ca帽asgordas. To date, he would be the second ringleader in Frontino.
The arrested had with them two pistols, a grenade, war cartridges, ammunition and four cell phones.
