In military operations, troops of the National Army, in coordination with the Sijin (judicial Police), carried out in the municipality of Pivijay, Magdalena, the apprehension of alias Cascón, alleged urban ringleader of the Organised Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, an individual accused of carrying out several terrorist operations in this sector.
The military operation carried out by troops of the Magdalena Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in support of the search efforts, lead to the arrest in flagrante delicto in the urban area of this municipality of the individual accused of being alias Cascón, who is required by the authorities for the crimes of aggravated homicide and manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms.
This individual, who in the same way has 13 criminal records for damage to property of others, escape of prisoners and personal injuries, would be responsible for coordinating in recent days the incineration of two vehicles on the road that connects the municipality of Pivijay with Fundación, Magdalena, a terrorist operation presumably perpetrated in the frame of the armed strike imposed by the GAO - Clan del Golfo in recent days.
At the time of the arrest, ammunition, communications material and cash were found by troops. The material and the arrested individual were put into custody of the authorities for their prosecution process.
