These men are linked to the selective homicide of merchants and members of productive groups in the region, as well as to the extortion and kidnapping of various inhabitants of Cesar and La Guajira.
In the constant operation carried out by the National Army in the north of the country, in the urban area of Valledupar, Cesar, individuals known under the aliases Ángel and El Paisa, who would be part of the logistical component of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, were arrested in flagrante delicto.
After an arduous work of military intelligence, an operation was carried out in a coordinated and inter-institutional manner with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, which led the troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Guajira to support the search procedures that resulted in the arrest of the two individuals.
In addition, the authorities were able to establish that these men were linked in several criminal actions carried out in the departments of Cesar and La Guajira. Alias Ángel, 43 years old, is accused of carrying out selective murders of merchants and members of productive groups in the region; he is in the same way responsible for coordinating kidnappings and extortions against inhabitants of Valledupar and Riohacha.
Alias El Paisa, 46, would be in charge of marketing narcotics in different sectors of the capital city of Cesar and nearby municipalities. In addition, he would be responsible for several selective homicides.
During the operation, it was possible to find firearms, cartridges, magazines, clothing for the exclusive use of the Military Forces and communication equipment.
The arrested persons were brought before the authorities for prosecution, where they will be held for the offences of aggravated homicide; manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possessing firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition; and manufacturing, trafficking and carrying narcotics.
