Soldiers of the First Division and the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Command supported the distribution of more than 900 food baskets to indigenous communities.
With the purpose of helping those who need it most and thanks to institutional coordination, the National Army, the Santo Domingo Foundation, the Alianza Suma Tus Manos Foundation and the El Nogal Foundation benefited more than 900 families living in vulnerable situations in the department of La Guajira, with the distribution of food baskets consisting of panela (whole cane sugar), rice, beans, beans, flour, salt, coffee, milk powder and oil.
It is important to note that this distribution in the same way counted on the support of companies such as Pavimentos Guajira, Servientrega, Hotel Gualla Guajira, Hotel Pradid, and the Universidad Santo Tomás.
Mrs. Edit Sipuana, highlighted: “As leader of this community, I am very grateful, with the help you are giving, it is the second time you have come here, I am grateful you are doing it in good manners, house by house, for all the families. ”
The inhabitants benefited were from communities in Cabo de la Vela and the municipality of Camarones. The Tenth Brigade, the Comprehensive Action Battalion No.1, the Cartagena Battalion and the Artillery Battalion No.1 in joint work with the Colombian Navy work together in this activity and reminded door to door the importance of following preventive measures to mitigate the spread of covid-19.
The soldiers of the National Army will continue to work in the framework of Defense Support Operations to the Civil Authority, to bring relief and well-being to those who are currently experiencing a difficult situation due to this pandemic that has harmed the entire world.
