Troops of the Second Brigade and the Kogui indigenous community welcomed these presents.
On the morning of December 23, the Commander of the First Division, Major General Gerardo Melo Barrera, accompanied by of Laura Olascuaga, Miss Universe Colombia 2020, distributed morale kits to the troops of the Alta Montaña Battalion No. 6 attached to the Second Brigade that are deployed in this area of difficult access known as Ciudad Perdida in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
In this activity, which was supported by the Finsocial Foundation, it was possible to distribute approximately 150 morale kits to soldiers of the First Division of the National Army who are deployed in this area of the country, who daily ensure the security and protection of these territories , as well as, the protection of indigenous communities and ethnic groups. In addition, about 150 humanitarian aid kits were distributed to the Kogui community that resides in this sector of the Sierra Nevada.
At the end of the event, the Commander of the First Division of the National Army thanked the soldiers deployed in this area of the country for their commitment to the security and tranquility of the indigenous communities that live in the Sierra Nevada and civilians.
The First Division with its Operational Units will continue to work hand in hand with the different agencies, to ensure the well-being of our soldiers and the inhabitants who are in the northern part of Colombian territory.
