In development of a military operation, the Aviation Division Air Assault, in support of the Third Division of the National Army, in conjunction with the Colombian Air Force and in coordination with the National Police of Colombia, achieved the dismantling of a laboratory for production of this narcotic.
Special troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats arrived at the village El Pital, municipality of Cumbitara, where the laboratory was found, which according to military and police intelligence information would be part of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Franco Benavidez Structure.
The troops, together with National Police officers, found 1,418 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 124 kilograms of coca-based paste, in the same way 850 kilograms of solid precursors, 2,374 gallons of liquid precursors, among other material and equipment that is used for the production of this narcotic.
This laboratory would have the capacity to produce more than four tons of cocaine hydrochloride per month; at the site of the result, no arrests occurred and the material was put into custody of the authority to conduct the prosecution process.
This decisive operation could hit the drug trafficking value chain by approximately eight billion pesos, about USD 1 893 000 000, vindicating our position of continuous and frontal struggle against drug trafficking.
