Men of the National Army through the Eighth Division and the Support Command of Comprehensive operation and Development responded the call of the communities near the Orinoco River.
Troops of the Eighth Division with support of the Support Command of Comprehensive operation and Development with its Support Battalion of Comprehensive operation and Development No. 8, moved to Puerto Carre帽o, in the department of Vichada, in order to provide humanitarian aid to about 220 inhabitants of Santa Teresita and Sim贸n Bol铆var neighborhoods, after the winter wave and the overflow of the Orinoco River that is on orange alert and completes more than a month in this situation.
The military deployed throughout this territory, provided assistance in evacuation of minors and adults, construction of wooden bridges, recovery of equipment and the adaptation in the center of the municipality for several temporary shelters to meet the need of the community.
For her part, Roc铆o Campo, a resident of the Sim贸n Bol铆var neighborhood, said: "I thank the soldiers of the National Army for helping us in the situation"
It is important to highlight the joint work of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force in coordination with the National Police and in coordination with relief agencies, the Fire Department, the Red Cross and municipal and departmental authorities, who are permanently monitoring the flow of the river to provide humanitarian aid to the population.
