In Caño del Oro, an island people in Tierra Pumpa, approximately 10 minutes by sea from Cartagena, the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, carried out a Development Support Activity that benefited more than two thousand of its inhabitants.
To Cárex, the ancient name by which this important island region of the department of Bolívar was known, units arrived in the place accompanied by public and private organizations to deliver donations, provide medical services of different specialties, assistance operations for disabled people and personal care services.
Within the framework of this activity, care was provided in general medicine, internal medicine, cytology, dentistry, optometry, nutrition, pediatrics, psychology, subdermal implants and vaccination. In the same way, beauty services, hairdressing, manicure, leisure and recreational activities.
This work was made possible thanks to the coordination of resources of the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Surface Flotilla and the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo, as well as different institutions that thanks to their commitment to the well-being and comprehensive development of the Caribbean region, brought together more than 170 volunteers, including military personnel, health professionals, recreation and support personnel, with the aim of improving the quality of life of the inhabitants in this region of the Bolivarian capital city.
