Thanks to a coordinated work conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Municipal Mayor's Office of Turbo, the Futuroaseo company, the Turbo Fire Department, the leaders of the Communal action Board and the civilians, it was possible to collect and classify 1.5 tons of solid waste that were in the streets of the Gait谩n neighborhood, causing damage to health and the environment.
The crew of Task Force No.73 Neptuno and the Navy River Battalion No.16, attended the call of the people to stop the public health problem derived of the amount of garbage in the streets of the neighborhood and the difficulty due to the system of collection.
In the activity, the Navy of Colombia along with other public and private institutions, with the commitment and the management of the community, carried out the collection and organization of waste, separating materials such as cardboard, plastic, scrap metal and aluminum, to comply with the protocols of recycling and reuse of wastes. In addition, talks were held with children and young people in the neighborhood to raise awareness on the importance of proper waste management and environmental care. The company Futuroaseo and the City Hall of Turbo were in charge of the final disposition of the waste.
The Community action Board, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turbo and the community, expressed their gratitude to the Colombian Navy for this logistical support for the cleaning and organization of the streets of the Gait谩n neighborhood, contributing to reduce pollution rates reaffirming their commitment to the well-being of the Turbe帽os.
