With this result, the finances of criminal groups at the service of drug trafficking are hit by more than 23 million dollars.
In 2024, 124 tons of cocaine have been found by the Caribbean Naval Force, thanks to the joint work conducted by the Military Forces and combined with other countries.
As part of a joint operation against transnational drug trafficking organizations, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force found 704 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in the Caribbean Sea, a result that was possible thanks to the use of the air and naval resources of the Colombian Military Forces.
The events occurred approximately 25 nautical miles from Puerto Velero - Atlántico, when units of the Coast Guard Station of Barranquilla, with the support of an aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force, carried out an interception procedure to a Go Fast type boat that was sailing at high speed and suspiciously in the sector.
During the search of the ship, 28 sacks were found by troops with more than 700 rectangular packages inside and four crew members of Colombian nationality, individuals who were arrested in flagrante delicto for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics, according to article 376 of the Colombian Criminal Code. At the end of the inspection, the boat was taken to a safe port where it was put into custody of the authorities along with the arrested individuals and the material, which was tested and left positive result for 704 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The Colombian Navy ratifies its commitment to joint operations against the transnational crime of drug trafficking and its related crimes, denying the use of the maritime, coastal, river and island areas of the Colombian Caribbean for the trafficking of illicit substances, with the aim of mitigating the problems of security, violence and development derived from drug trafficking.
