From today the members of the Military Forces of Colombian National Army, with specialized urban combat training, will reinforce the security of Jamundí.
Continuing to conduct the operations for the security of Jamundí, the Third Brigade of Colombian National Army received 60 Special Forces commandos that will enter to strengthen the security of the inhabitants and confront the criminal operations of outlaw groups that commit crimes in this area of the department.
The members of the Military Forces who will be guarding this municipality in the south of the country count on special training in urban, rural, anti-explosive and air assault operations, among other specialties, and arrived thanks to the support of aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force from the cities of Villavicencio and Medellín, following the orders given by the Minister of National Defense and the general commander of the Military Forces in the extraordinary council of yesterday.
The two companies represent more than 60 specialist soldiers certified to carry out urban and rural operations, with high mobility since they have differential resources. Their base of operations will be the municipality of Jamundí.
These soldiers will conduct day and night accompaniment, ofesive operations on the ground, in addition to coordinating operations with the National Police which will maintain more firmly the military operations against the organized armed groups that attack the tranquility of the Jamundeños.
It is important to note that these men and women complement the work that the Infantry Battalion No. 8 Batalla de Pichincha, of the Third Brigade, has been carrying out, which has achieved important results in the last year in Jamundí, represented in 9 arrests of common crime, 11 of organized crime, 16 for drug trafficking, the surrender to justice of an individual of the Jaime Martínez Structure. 4 combats have in the same way been held against this Structure. In addition troops report the finding of 9 weapons of different calibers, the dismantling of 11 banners in the rural area, the destruction of 10 explosive devices, 8 means of launching, 2 illegal hiding places; 14 properties have been expropriated.
Similarly, the phenomenon of drug trafficking has been significantly hit with the finding and destruction of a megalaboratory, the finding of more than 280 kilos of coca paste base, 1923 kilos of coca, 236 kilos of marijuana and countless liquid and solid supplies.
