With this result, the commercialization of more than one million doses of the drug on the streets of the world was prevented.
The Colombian Navy, during an operation against the transnational crime of drug trafficking and its related crimes, seized more than 460 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that were hidden in a container on board a maritime transport cargo ship.
This result took place thanks to the control and security efforts carried out by the Colombian Navy in the maritime communication lines of the region. On this occasion troops detected a possible contamination of a boat with cocaine that was heading towards Central America.
After receiving the alert, crew members of the Coast Guard Station of Cartagena, in coordination with the Port Authority of Cartagena, found 16 sacks with rectangular packages, similar to those used for trafficking narcotic substances.
The illegal merchandise was taken to a safe harbor, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, determining that it was 469 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, a shipment that would have a cost of more than 15 million dollars in the international illegal market.
The material was put into custody of the authority. No arrests were made during the operation.
