During 2024 the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, has found 240 tons of cocaine hydrochloride in this region of the country.
Through this finding, the commercialization of more than 115 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.
Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy, during an operation against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, found 46.7 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, hidden on board a cargo ship transiting through Colombian Caribbean waters.
The facts took place, when personnel of the cargo boat that was covering the route from Santa Marta to Aalborg - Denmark, reported on the sighting of two people other than their crew on board the ship, so they immediately notified the authorities, returning to a safe port in the capital city of Magdalena, escorted by a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta.
Once in port, the Colombian Navy personnel, with the support of trained anti-narcotics dog, carried out the visit procedure to the ship, in which an illegal merchandise of 47 rectangular packages hidden in a compartment in the bow of the boat was detected.
In the same way, the finding of two adults of Colombian nationality, unrelated to the crew and who had in their possession items such as GPS systems and a satellite phone, was confirmed, so they were taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the authorities.
Judicial Police officers carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH to the illegal merchandise found, determining that it was 46 kilograms of cocaine, a shipment that would cost more than 1.5 million dollars on the international illegal market; this operation prevents approximately 115 thousand doses of narcotics from being sold on the streets of the world.
