Part of the supplies were found by troops hidden in the compartment of a boat where cattle were traveling.
In river control and security operations in the main tributaries of the department of Guaviare, the Colombian Navy, together with the National Army, carried out the recovery of 32 tons of cement and 5,150 gallons of fuel. These substances, controlled by the National Narcotics Council, were being transported illegally without the certificates required by the authorities.
At the first checkpoint, carried out in the Bocas de Agua Bonita village in San José del Guaviare - Guaviare, a bongo-type boat named La Mapiripana carrying cattle was inspected by the authorities. During its review, the troops of the Navy River Battalion No. 32, discovered a compartment under the cattle, in which 32,000 kilograms of cement and 3,050 gallons of fuel were hidden, supplies that were transported illegally without the sailing document issued by the River Inspector of San José del Guaviare.
Additionally, in the Puerto Tolima village of San José del Guaviare, the authorities inspected a river convoy named La SantamarÃa, which was heading towards Puerto InÃrida – GuainÃa, in which 2,100 gallons of gasoline were transported, which were hidden in the double bottom of the boat and without the certificates that certify the legality of this substance.
According to intelligence information, apparently the drug trafficking structures that commit crimes in this department use peasants, fishermen and motorists of the region to illegally transport solid and liquid precursors, in order not to raise suspicions before the permanent operations of the authorities, since this type of substances are essential precursors for the production of coca paste, in the alto and medio Guaviare area.
