These results represent a hit of more than 95 million dollars in the finances of drug trafficking organizations.
In operations conducted by the Colombian Navy and authorities in Costa Rica, Panama and the United States, it was possible to find 2,834 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that were transported in Go Fast boats apparently to Central America. During the operations it was possible to capture eight individuals: six Colombians, one Honduran and one Panamanian.
In the first operation, units of the Coast Guard of Costa Rica, units of the National Aeronaval Service of Panama (SENAN), and units of the Southern Inter-Institutional Joint Task Force (JIATFS), with naval intelligence information of the Colombian Navy, conducted a maritime interception of a boat Go Fast type near the Westfalia sector (Costa Rica). The boat, which was manned by four Colombians and one Panamanian, carried 2,600 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride inside.
The second seizure occurred seven nautical miles away of the Parismina sector (Costa Rica), when units of the Coast Guard of that country and SENAN, guided by Naval Intelligence of the Colombian Navy, detected and intercepted a Go Fast ship manned by two Colombians and a Honduran, who were transporting 234 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The material found, which is valued at more than 95 million dollars in the illegal US market, and the individuals captured of different nationalities, were put into custody of the authorities of Costa Rica, where they must answer for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacture and/or possession of narcotics.
Both results are a result of the coordinated work conducted by countries that, interested in the fight against drug trafficking, work under the framework of international cooperation agreements to provide security and wellbeing of their citizens.
