The Minister of Defense highlighted the work and support of the Military Forces throughout the national territory to overcome this crisis with the conflagrations.
There are more than 1,100 men and women of the Military Forces and more than 1,500 of the National Police who are supporting the efforts of extinction and control of forest fires throughout the national territory.
"In addition, we have more than 15 aircraft, currently flying, making water drops at the different points. Together with the other institutions, more than 200 fires have been controlled and extinguished, we still have approximately 30 active ones,” explained the Deputy Minister of Defense (temporally in charge), Daniela Gomez Rivas.
The deputy minister in the same way made a strong appeal to those who are promoting activities that cause these fires because there will be legal actions for damages to the environment and natural resources.
"In the same way, we are resolutely pursuing with the National Police and the Military Forces anyone who is trying to cause these conflagrations,” the Deputy Minister said.
On the other hand, from Tumaco, the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, sent a greeting of gratitude and recognition to all the Military Forces that are providing support at the moment, assuring that he hopes that with all the resources that are being conducted, this crisis will be overcome soon.
Finally, Vice-Minister Gómez highlighted that there are 548 members of the Military Forces of the Military Forces and the National Police in Bogotá; in addition, in the Northern Army base, water refilling was enabled to respond more effectively to emergencies due to conflagrations, within the city.
