Thanks to the development support activity led by the soldiers of the Thirty-First Brigade, with the support of the Vaupés Government, indigenous people of the Guananao, Cubeo and Tucano ethnic groups received medical services and other benefits.
Soldiers of the National Army arrived in the Timbó indigenous reservation more than 600 kilometers of the center of the country, in the middle of the Colombian Amazon, to transport food, humanitarian aid, smiles and love, as part of the contribution to food security, that seeks the protection of life.
The place is accessed by land from Mitú, and four hours of travel in five vehicles were necessary to make it possible to carry out this activity that adds efforts to the unified action with other State institutions.
At 6:00 a.m. the respective activity began to provide medical assistance to this community, accompanied by health professionals of the San Antonio Hospital, where officials of the National Learning Service (SENA), the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the North and East Amazon (CDA) and others institutions arrived to work to provide their services to the inhabitants of this remote area of the country.
“Our ultimate goal, as soldiers of Colombia, is to ensure that civilians can live in a safer world, promoting development and progress in communities, especially remote ones like these, where our indigenous people need us most. They are tradition and culture”, said Colonel Cesar Baquero Campos, commander of the 31st Brigade.
During the activity there was in the same way time for reading, recreational games and the planting of more than 100 native trees of the region, thus contributing to the reforestation of the Amazon Biome.
The Colombian soldier in the department of Vaupés works for the wellbeing and human rights of the 27 indigenous ethnic groups that inhabit the department, so troops will continue to generate initiatives that benefit of the people.
