Thanks to the international cooperation agreements with the countries of the continent against drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy, through the timely information provided to the authorities of Costa Rica, the United States, Panama, Ecuador and Mexico, managed to find 16,519 kilos of drugs in different operations in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, in recent days.
The operations were carried out on the Jicar贸n Island, David, Punta Mala and Changuinola (Panama); Galapagos Island (Ecuador); Pochutla (Mexico); Punta Llorona (Costa Rica), Laguna Brus (Honduras); and International Pacific waters.
In international operations in the waters of the Pacific Ocean conducted by the Department for Drug Control of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security of Costa Rica; the U.S. Southern Command Joint Interagency Task Force; the National Service of Coast Guard of Costa Rica; the anti-Narcotics Police of Ecuador with the support of Information provided by the Navy of Colombia, were 11,270 kilos of drugs. During these operations, 12 ships, including a fishing ship carrying 300 kilos of cocaine, were seized.
Similarly, in the Caribbean Sea, 5,132 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were seized in seven operations carried out by different United States agencies, including the DEA, in international waters in the south of the Brus Lagoon in Honduras, and northern Uribia in La Guajira. It should be noted that through the operation near Honduras 100 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in a Beechcraft ship were seized.
During the operations it was possible to seize 16,402 kilos of drugs, 14,261 kilos of cocaine and 2,141 kilos of marijuana, as well as the seizure of 20 boats and an aircraft, and the capture of 59 individuals of different nationalities, among them ecuadorians, colombians and a british.
