The main mission was to protect the lives of the two pregnant indigenous women and their babies.
After coordination conducted by the First Division of Colombian National Army, the Tenth Brigade, the Air Assault Aviation Division and the Government of the Department of La Guajira, it was possible the aeromedical evacuation, by means of the Huey helicopter crew of the Aviation Mobility and Maneuver Battalion No. 1, of two Wayúu indigenous pregnant mothers, who were in a distant and difficult to access land area of the municipality of Uribia, in the Department of La Guajira.
That is why, thanks to Colombian National Army, a flight covered more than 300 miles to reach the village of Nazareth, in the extreme area of Alta Guajira, and Riohacha, with the tireless purpose of safeguarding the life and good physical condition of the two women and their babies.
Thanks to the support provided by the troops, at this time they are assisted in a Health Center in the capital city of the Department of La Guajira, where they are valued by health professionals.
