The Minister of Defense, Guillermo Botero, revealed today in the framework of the Workshop Building a Country (Construyendo País) held in San Andrés, that 94% of the homicides reported last year in that department were clarified and their perpetrators captured.
"Here, what is implemented is that saying campaign “who makes it, must pay”. Of the homicides reported last year, 94% were clarified and the responsible captured, and only 6% continue under investigations. Surely in the course of the next few months they will be captured" said Botero.
The minister explained that the clarification of these homicides was largely due to the arrival, last year, of 10 new men of judicial investigation units of the National Police.
"Last year we dismantle a group that was called “Los Canosos”, 14 people were captured, and that brought, among other things, the clarification of 11 homicides," the minister said.
Finally, Guillermo Botero, Minister of National Defense, reported that thanks to the articulated work of the National Police, the Military Forces and citizen collaboration through the Civic Participation Network, theft to people decreased by 29%, burglary to residences 63 %, steal of motorcycles 40% and robberies against commerce 83% ".
