- Military Forces will focus their efforts on hitting the economic, social and territorial control subsystems of the multi-crime structures that hit the tranquility of the people.
- The new strategy for life and peace will have three components: one military, with the Perseo Plan, another by the police, with Operation San Pedro Claver and the third, judicial, with the participation of the Attorney General's Office.
The new comprehensive and inter-institutional strategy for life and peace, which seeks the protection of all Colombians and especially the most vulnerable communities, was introduced today by the Minister of National Defense, Iván Velásquez, under the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro.
“We have created a special strategy to improve security conditions, especially for the most vulnerable communities, leaders, human rights defenders and social organizations, and for this the Comprehensive and Inter-Institutional Strategy for Life and Peace has been created,” the Minister informed.
In this strategy, in which the Resources of the Military Forces, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office will be effectively coordinated, will be focused on the assistance and the fight against criminal and violence phenomena that disturb the peace and tranquility of every citizen.
“It is a strategy that seeks the dismantling of illegal armed organizations and that is not only aimed at the arrest of the members of the structures, but in a very radical way against the finances of those organizations, because we understand that if their profits are hot, their illicit operations weaken,” Velásquez highlighted.
The new strategy has three components, judicial, military and by the police:
Perseo Plan. Through joint, coordinated and intelligent operations of the Military Forces, the structures and substructures of Organized Armed Groups and Organized Crime Groups will be combated.
Police operation San Pedro Claver. The National Police will coordinate joint and inter-institutional operations to provide support for various criminal phenomena.

The head of the ministry said that he has given clear instructions to the Military Forces in order to focus intelligence and judicial efforts to hit the command and control, the economic and social control subsystems in the territories.
For his part, the Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa, highlighted his commitment and that of the Prosecutor's Office with the judicial accompaniment to each of the operations carried out by the Military Forces in the framework of territorial control and the protection of the life of each citizen.
Finally, Minister Velásquez highlighted the commitment of the men and women of the Military Forces and the National Police in the fight against organized crime, so he said that the proposal for a total peace does not mean inactivity or the fact that the military forces lower the guard.
