Meta. The Minister of Defense, Luis Carlos Villegas, visited the capital city of Meta to launch the campaign “National Operation against Crime” which aims to find quick and effective solutions to security situations in different regions of the country.
"With this campaign I call on the llaneros to count on the Public Force so that whenever they have a concern, they come to find all the mechanisms, such as immediate assistance, early warnings, and construction of peace, with the Police, the Elite Corps, etc., to face any crime that threatens the tranquility of this department," said Villegas.
During his visit to Villavicencio, the Minister of Defense visited the facilities of the newspaper Periódico del Meta, where through social networks he interacted with the community through Facebook Live, where he listened to the people and knew the main concerns and visions regarding citizen’s security.
"I invite the entire community to report any estrange situation or an activity against the peace of the family or partners." The Public Force will be present to listen to and protect," said the Minister at the facilities of Meta's most important newspaper.
In the same way, Minister Villegas informed that the support networks of the Public Force in Villavicencio by June will increase units from 15,900 members in urban areas to 16,200, and in rural areas the increase will grow from 3,000 to 4,000 military. The head of the defense ministry in the same way announced that the night controls of the Armed Forces will increase to fight crimes such as cattle rustling.
Regarding the Horus Plan, minister said that the Horus Plan was reviewed in the region.
"We have 11 hamlets of three municipalities of the department of Meta with new units of the Public Force, a battalion in charge of the hamlets commanded by an officer and a non-commissioned officer, who have about 40 soldiers and some sectors with police presence. The "Horus Plan" will be present thanks to some 450 and 500 new soldiers and policemen, in 11 districts of three municipalities such as La Macarena, Vista Hermosa and Mesetas," he explained.
