Troops of the Cauca Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in coordination with the Gaula of the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office carried out the rescue of a 43-year-old merchant, who had been kidnapped in the village Torres, in the municipality of Popay谩n, apparently by common crime.
The victim, who was traveling to the Pat铆a River, was reported by his wife, initially as missing, on June 3, however, by June 19 and 29, she began to receive calls of the perpetrators, who made a demand for $ 300,000,000 COP in exchange for his release and respect for his life.
The operation that counted on the intelligence of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Police, determined the area in which the citizen was being held, counted on the participation of around 90 men including military, police officers and CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) components of the Prosecutor's Office.
Once in the area, the three captors who had the kidnapped exchanged rifle shots when they saw the work of the troops and then escaped leaving the merchant in the village Los Uvos, Municipality La Vega in Cauca.
The victim remained captive for 27 days, but thanks to the decisive reaction of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) together with the intelligence of Gaula of the Police he regained his freedom and today he is already safe and sound next to his relatives.
