In two joint operations the National Army coordinated with the Police and the Colombian Navy was possible to capture 25 people in the department of Bolívar.
The first operation was carried out in Isla Grande, where troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Bolívar and the Caribbean Coast Guard Station of the Colombian Navy, with the support of the Gaula Elite of the National Army and the Judicial Investigation Section of the Police, captured nine individuals, achieving the dismantling of the common crime group, called 'Los insulares', responsible for trafficking and distributing illicit substances on the tourist island.
The second operation took place in the neighborhoods Olaya Herrera, Policarpa, El Libertador, Henequen and 3 de Junio, in the city of Cartagena, where, through search of real estate, 16 people were captured, four of them women and one minor of age, accused of carrying out selective homicides, distribution of narcotics in the aforementioned neighborhoods, extortion of money against merchants, shopkeepers and companies that provide water service and cable television.
During the operation, it was possible to find a 9 mm mini Uzi submachinegun, a 9-millimeter rifle, a sig sauer gun, three magazines and 500 grams of marijuana.
Thanks to information from Naval Intelligence and the support of the Surface Fleet of the Caribbean Naval Force, this blunt blow that was given to the criminal organizations of the department, significantly damages their criminal structure.
Those captured were put into custody of the authorities, who will carry out the judicial proceedings.
