The Colombian Navy, in coordination with the National Police, managed to capture a member of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo in Cartagena, in the department of Bolívar.
The operation was carried out in the neighborhood 20 de Julio of Cartagena, where men of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Bolívar captured the leader known as 'Beltrán', who belonged to the substructure 'Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez', a group that commits crimes in the municipalities of Riosucio, Carmen del Darién and Murindó, in the department of Chocó.
Alias 'Beltrán', 37, is accused of coordinating what concerns the trafficking of narcotics, an activity that is considered the largest source of funding for this Organized Armed Group.
The man was put into custody of the Special Prosecutor's Office 28 of Apartadó for his prosecution for the crimes of aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes and traffic or possession of narcotics.
