The Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Meta of the National Army in coordination with the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, captured a member of the organized armed group, Gao, Clan del Golfo, who through extortionate calls threatened traders, economy groups and civilians, in several municipalities of the Department of Meta.

This military operation was carried out within the framework of the Bicentenary plan Heroes Of Freedom, Operation Pedro Pascasio Martínez of the National Army, aimed at combating extortion, kidnapping, smuggling and illegal exploitation of mining sites.
The man, for about three years, was a member of the Erlin Pino Duarte structure of the Clan del Golfo and through extortion calls demanded from his victims to send him the extortion money daily, through money laundering companies.
The alleged extortionist was put into custody of the prosecutor's Office of the municipality of Palmira, Valle del Cauca; he was charged with the crimes of extortion and association to commit aggravated crimes.
