The individuals, from Venezuela and from Colombia were captured when they received 300 million pesos from their victim.
In an inter-institutional operation conducted by the military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Cundinamarca, of the 13th Brigade, and the Technical Corps of Criminal Investigation of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Nation, three persons were captured, including a woman and a man of Venezuelan nationality. The capture was reported in the Hayuelos Shopping Center, in Bogotá.
The operation took place after a dairy merchant in the department of Cundinamarca reported that he was being intimidated by calls and text messages by extortionists who demanded from him 300 million pesos in exchange for not attacking on his life or his family's life. Since the intimidation did not stopped he reported the facts through the national toll-free 147, through which he was advised to make the appropriate denunciation.
Those captured were prosecuted for the crime of extortion and put into custody of the 9th Specialized Prosecutor's Office of Military Gaula; Troops in the same way found three cell phones and all the money.
