Units of the Military GAULA department of Chocó, in a joint operation with the GAULA of the Police and the National Police reported the arrest of alias Chile, a member of the Organized Gang Los Mexicanos.
The operation, carried out in the Uribe Vélez neighborhood of the municipality of Quibdó, was carried out by means of a search warrant in which they made effective the arrest order against the alleged ringleader of this criminal organization.
The arrested man, alias Chile, would be responsible for ordering the selective homicides in the department of Chocó and was wanted by the Colombian justice for the crimes of association to commit crimes for extortion purposes.
His modus operandi consisted of making intimidating calls to the victims to demand money in exchange for not attacking their lives; he in the same way, sent pamphlets with the phrase “cash or lead” as a threat in case they refused to pay his monetary extortions. When people refused to pay such extortions, they used minors he sent to their houses to shoot at their facades or their commercial businesses.
According to intelligence work, Alias Chile would be in charge of ordering, directing and participating in extortions, selective homicides, forced displacements, control of microtrafficking of narcotics, kidnappings and intimidation of merchants, ranchers and business contractors.
