Authorities of the departments of Sucre and Bolívar participated in a Regular Regional Security Council, led by the Governor of Bolívar, Vicente Antonio Blel, in order to determine operations to improve the conditions of coexistence of the people and law and order in this region of the country.
The governors of the departments of Sucre and Bolívar, mayors of the municipalities in the region of Montes de María and representatives of the Navy of Colombia, the National Police, as well as investigating authorities and the Public prosecutor's office participated in this meeting, where they conducted an analysis of the current security situation in this territory, as well as the operations carried out for the development and security, including the various prevention campaigns to prevent the displacement, recruitment, homicide, microtrafficking, drug trafficking and threats to social leaders, human rights defenders and victims of the conflict.
During the Security Council, the inhabitants knew the daily operation carried out by Colombian navy men to combat and counter the operations of the agents that generate violence in the area. In this sense, Vice Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón, Commander of the Caribbean Naval Force, said that he works in coordination with the other institutions so that the inhabitants of the 15 municipalities of the Montes de María feel safe.
As part of the outcome of this meeting, the construction and dissemination of the list of the most wanted of Montes de María region will be launched. Work plans will be increased on the municipalities of the sub-region of Montes de María, to prevent different groups outlaw attempt against the security and tranquility of citizens.
