Within the framework of operations aimed at dismantling the structures of production and transportation of narcotics in the department of Vichada, the Colombian Aerospace Force, in conjunction with Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy and in coordination with the National Police, executed two strategic operations in this region of the country.
In Santa Teresita, it was possible to find and neutralize a rudimentary laboratory specialized in coca base production, where approximately 360 kilograms of coca leaf, 100 gallons of coca base in process and other precursors used in this illicit activity were found by troops. Simultaneously, in the municipality of Santa Rosal铆a, a dump truck carrying 278 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride hidden in a double bottom was intercepted, and a person linked to this transport was in the same way arrested. Both the arrested individual and the material found were put into custody of the authorities in accordance with established protocols.
The geographical position and the conditions of the terrain of the department of Vichada make this region a strategic point for the transit of precursors and illicit drugs to other areas of the country and even abroad. By neutralizing these production and transportation points, not only the financial resources of criminal organizations are hit, but in the same way their military operations and expansion capacity, thus limiting their influence on the security and stability of local communities.
