Through a joint and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to beat the Carlos Patiño Structure of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, who commit crimes in the department of Cauca, with the arrest alias Camilo, alleged member of this organization, as well as the finding of important war material.
Thanks to a decisive intelligence work, troops on the ground arrived at the municipality of El Encanto, rural area of Algeria, Cauca, where this criminal structure worked and after hard confrontations, it was found an illegal clandestine place, where the individuals stored weapons and military accessories. Alias Camilo, was given to authorities.
During the operation, it became necessary to deploy Colombian Air Force aircraft to provide personnel security in the area, where an M-60 machinerifle, two IM-26 hand grenades, a Galil rifle, two 5.56 mm caliber magazines, 414 5.56 mm and 7.62 caliber war cartridges, two explosives units, uniforms for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, field and communication equipment were found by troops.
