After the announcement of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to ensure the vaccination of the inhabitants of Providencia and Santa Catalina, the units of the Military Forces work in these islands with their Resources and logistical means to support these activities of health focused and prioritized on the inhabitants of the islands and Creole people hit after the hurricane Iota.
The more than four thousand vaccines against COVID-19 were transported in a medical Cessna Caravan aircraft of the Colombian Air Force to the island of Providencia, where personnel of the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the National Police had a security operation and logistical support for their transport to the vaccination points where there is in the same way support from Colombian Red Cross and Civil Defense officials.
On the island there are three fixed vaccination teams composed of members of the Ministry of Health, the Municipal Health Secretariat and medical personnel, in the sectors of Punta Rocosa, Pueblo Viejo and Casa Baja, in addition to home teams that promote and call for the vaccination with SINOVAC vaccines, planned for the islands.
In the first activity 596 people were vaccinated thanks to these differential health measures taken within the framework of the National Vaccination Plan; so the military and police personnel sent to carried out the Renacer Plan aimed at supporting the work of humanitarian assistance and reconstruction of the archipelago in the frame of this effort of the National Government to contain COVID-19 in the island region.
