In coordination with the National Risk Management Unit and the Government of Boyacá, the Military Forces put into service their differential resources to support the control and mitigation efforts of the forest fire that is occurring in the municipality of Villa de Leyva.
In a UH-60 BlackHawk aircraft of the Colombian Air Force plus the support of a private aircraft, more than 35 water drops and retardant liquid were carried out today that led to neutralize the conflagration by about 90%.
Fortunately, and with the heavenly help of St. Peter, it is raining in the area at this time and this contributes to liquidating the flames in their entirety.
However, the Air Force remains attentive to the evolution of the situation in the area and will be ready for any necessary requirements.
According to the authorities' report, more than 200 hectares had been hit so far.
