The objective is in the same way to continue strengthening the transportation, evacuation, supply and maneuver resources carried out by the National Army in strategic points of the national geography.
For 10 weeks a group of officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Military Forces were training and preparing physically and mentally to be the new combatants in river operations.
The 32 members of the Military Forces belonging to different units of the National Army, were formed to conduct military operations against the organized armed groups on the different tributaries throughout the national geography.
The objective of this river operations course, which has been held for 13 years, is to lead the Military Forces to strengthen their skills, knowledge and abilities to operate boats and weaponry, as well as continue improving their water infiltration techniques.
The Military Education Center of the National Army has promoted this kind of exercises to improve maneuver resources and thus continue conducting operations against organized armed groups, drug trafficking, the illicit exploitation of mining deposits, smuggling, the theft of farm animals, forced recruitment, among other crimes.
Currently, this differential capacity of river operations has in the same way been used to contribute to the protection and defense of critical construction, such as power towers, petroleum pipelines, roads, even to prevent wildlife trafficking and the protection of biodiversity.
The mental and physical effort of this course is so demanding that every day the members of the Military Forces conduct different exercises that lead them to stay strengthened in the face of adversities that, eventually, they may face in the area of operations.
In addition, members of the Military Forces must pass strict tests in areas such as swimming and the same survival both in water and on land, and thus continue the operations that the Military Forces deploy in favor of security, defense of life and the well-being of the inhabitants.
