The Navy of Colombia during a naval operation against the substructure Pacific of the Organised Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, carried out near the municipality of Cored贸, approximately 15 kilometres of the urban center of the municipality of Jurad贸, in the department of Choc贸, in response to the criminal plan to confine civilians in the Colombian Pacific, neutralized in combat two individuals belonging to this criminal structure.
The facts took place when troops of the Navy Infantry of the Navy of Colombia, which were carrying out naval operations of territorial control, to arrest alias Rigo, head of this substructure, to stop the actions of the GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the region north Pacific, protecting the constitutional rights of the inhabitants. Troops engaged combat with members of the gang and two individuals died during these military operations.
Once ended the fighting troops found two firearms-type assault rifle, more than 200 units of ammunition, materials and accessories, military clothing alluding to this illegal group; in the same way, it made the arrangements relevant to the Judicial Police to carry out the urgent acts.
The Pac铆fico substructure of the GAO, Clan del Golfo, is accused of being the main responsible for criminal activities related to drug trafficking, extortion, selective homicides and illicit recruitment of children and adolescents members of the ethnic communities that inhabit this area of the country. Similarly, this group generates anxiety, fear and confinement in the different inhabitants settled in the rural area of the municipalities of Jurad贸 and Bah铆a Solano and directly damages the economic and social development of the department of Choc贸.
The bodies of the individuals and the material found were put into custody of the authorities. During the operation no loss to civilians occurred.
