In an operation of humanitarian assistance carried out jointly by the Navy of Colombia and the Colombian Air Force, and coordinated with the National Police, provided guidance and support to the evacuation of a man, a native of the municipality of Mochadó, municipality of Under Baudó, Chocó Department, which was hit at one of its extremities by an improvised explosive device type anti-personnel mine, when he was in his daily country activities in Mochadó, on the river Docampadó.
This operation was made possible in a timely manner since the Municipal Mayor's Office of Bajo Baudó requested support of the Military Forces to urgently carry out the medical evacuation. After carrying out the necessary coordination, the man who was beaten was escorted by units of the Colombian Navy and National Police to the municipality of Pizarro – Department of Chocó. In the area, a helicopter of the Colombian Air Force was waiting for him to transfer him to the hospital of the municipality of Quibdó, Department of Chocó, where he is currently recovering. The primary medical assistance was supported by the staff and facilities of the Bajo Baudó Solidarity Health Foundation.
According to intelligence information, this improvised explosive device was allegedly planted by the Ernesto Che Guevara front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, with the aim of beating the members of the Military Forces working to ensure security in the electoral activity, on March 13 in this area of the country.
The Colombian Navy denounces the use of these explosive devices to attack people and military personnel, evidencing the systematic violation of International Humanitarian Law and human Rights violations.
